This is a review of:
- ARM & HAMMER® Spinbrush® MY WAY! ™ battery-powered toothbrush for Girls,
- ARM & HAMMER® Spinbrush® MY WAY! ™ battery-powered toothbrush for Boys, and
- Orajel ® MY WAY™ Kids' Toothpaste
For the review, they sent me five complete toothbrush sets: five containers of toothpaste, four "for Boys" toothbrushes, and one "for Girls" toothbrush.
Each toothbrush kit contains one ARM & HAMMER® Spinbrush® toothbrush (this is the same brand we already use), plus 141 stickers for custom decorating---including alphabet stickers, which is awesome because the night before last, I broke up an argument about whose toothbrush was whose, so I was especially keen on the idea of PERSONALIZATION.
Although the official names of the toothbrushes include "for Girls" and "for Boys," the boxes themselves don't include those words---which I think was a good decision. I already feel a little uncomfortable with the division of "the stickers in the blue box" (dinosaurs, race cars, sports, robots) and "the stickers in the pink box" (make-up, unicorns, high heel shoes, princesses, rainbows, flowers). The 12-year-old son said, "Hey, no fair---it's all cars and sports. Can I have some of the rainbows and smiley faces?" The 10-year-old son said indignantly, "I got THESE [held up a sheet of skateboards and a sheet of race cars] and Elizabeth got THESE [held up a sheet of cute animals]. AND she got 'LOL' and 'OMG'! Those aren't anything to do with girls! They should be in all the boxes!"
There are way more stickers in the box than any one toothbrush can hold, so I had the boys wait until Elizabeth was done with hers, and then they used the extra cute animals for their brushes. I suggested they use their alphabet stickers for writing things such as LOL.
The toothpaste has it right, I think: one single variety, orange box, and an assortment of stickers including animals, rainbows, sports, princesses, skulls, and cars. Message: Anyone might have any variety of interests! Choose your own combination!
Left to right:ARM & HAMMER® Spinbrush® MY WAY! ™ for Girls
Orajel ® MY WAY™ Kids' Toothpaste
ARM & HAMMER® Spinbrush® MY WAY! ™ for Boys
One option is to have the child open the toothbrush and toothpaste at the same time, so the child would have access to the more general assortment of stickers from the toothpaste box to use on both the toothpaste and the toothbrush. I should have thought of this as soon as the trouble started brewing. That's what I'll do next time.

I KNEW William and Elizabeth would be interested in this: they're the ones who routinely sit down with craft supplies ANYWAY---special fun project or no. We keep stacked bins in the living room full of crayons, colored pencils, stickers, paper, card stock, scissors, glue, cotton balls, etc., just in case of a craft attack. And those two WERE very interested, but really they ALL were.
Five toothpastes is too many for the bathroom counter, so I divided the kids into two groups: Rob and William shared one, Elizabeth and Edward shared one, and Henry bowed out because he'd gotten a little overexcited with all the stickers and needed a lie-down.

Sticker ease-of-use report: One child (one of the 5-year-olds) had a little trouble getting the tiny letter stickers peeled off the sheets; four children (including the youngest) had no trouble taking stickers off the sheet and applying them to the toothbrush/toothpaste, as long as you are not particular about getting the stickers completely flat as directed, which I was not.

Fun-level report: all five kids LOVED this project. Sure, there was the little kerfuffle about the boy/girl stickers, but if I'd better anticipated that I could have divided the stickers differently, or had them open the toothpaste stickers at the same time. Everyone hugely enjoyed choosing the stickers and where they should go, and there was lots of happy discussion and some trading, and every child was so pleased with his/her resulting toothbrush. When I wanted them to use the toothbrushes for a photo, everyone WANTED to.

And last night, when I started brushing Elizabeth's teeth, she said, "Oh, you're using my FAVORITE toothbrush and my FAVORITE toothpaste!!"
The toothbrush head is not replaceable, so the entire toothbrush needs to be replaced when the brush head wears out; the package recommends doing this every 3 months. I have a feeling the children would be happy to decorate another by then.

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 211 Newer› Newest»My girls got these toothbrushes from Santa in their stockings and loved them, although the littlest had no interest in putting even a single sticker on hers. The other tried to use every last sticker in the box on hers. I suppose they demonstrate the extremes of your question. (I, personally, am of the spare persuasion, but I would like one or two well-placed ones rather than blank.)
The only thing that bothers me is it seems so much WASTE to have to ditch the whole thing when the head wears out. So we aren't getting them again.
This seems like it would be such a cool version of a usually lame gift. I would personally pile on the stickers as well. Fun!
I myself, being just ever so slightly OCD, would probably take an hour or 5 to figure out the exact right pattern before I ever touched a sticker. But it would be fabulous.
Toothbrushing is such a battle with my toddler. I think he'd love having his own toothbrush to decorate! We'd probably just let him go crazy with the stickers.
I would take it as my personal mission to apply every single sticker that came with the toothbrush.
I'd probably be more of a "a few well placed stickers". Clara would probably just eat the stickers at this point in life. :D
Carefully selected stickers here.
Our local Walmart carries only the "girl" toothbrush. Unfair!! I hadn't even seen the cool "boy" one!
I think I'd just put on a few. Otherwise my toothbrush would make me feel dizzy. And this is a sign I'm getting older because I distinctly remember the days when I would have plastered stickers everywhere.
I'd put on just a few. My daughter has one of these and spent an hour trying to get every last sticker to fit.
I would just use a few stickers. And, it would make me CRAZY if my kids stickers were bunched up and not flat. That's high on my list of ridiculous annoyances.
well, i used to be a "well placed sticker" person, but have a 3 year old boy has turned me into a "pile then on!" type. also, you get to do it again in three months!
I would probably go with fewer more strategically placed stickers but it kinda depends on how cool they are and how many I REALLY liked.
Definitely I'd want a few, neatly-positioned stickers! Looks like a lot of fun!
I have seen these recently and cannot wait to put them in a stocking! haha. I also got some free sample stickers in a magazine ad, which were very cute and the children thoroughly enjoyed using them to decorate their easter eggs.
I would WANT to do several well placed stickers so my toothbrush didn't look all cluttered but then I wouldn't be able to choose just a few stickers so I'd end up with every space covered up.
P.S.
Your children? Look so grown-y! Love Elizabeth's hair!
We have only one that is old enough for a toothbrush decorating event, but he is extremely into stickers and toothbrushes (electric or other) and I am sure that he would enjoy this as a project--probably the "boy" stickers wouldn't bother him...he tends towards gender-stereotypes naturally.
I'd use every single sticker, that's for sure.
I actually BOUGHT THiS for my daughter's Easter Basket because a) It looked like something I...er...she would love to do and b) we're horrible parents who give kids toothbrushes for Easter as opposed to delicious candy. BUT, ALAS, they did not have the BOY variety for my son, who was a teeny unhappy with his superhero variety.
She loved it. There are stickers EVERYWHERE.
I would place several stickers and save some for another decorating round.
g~
A few well placed stickers for me! Less is more.
Several well-placed stickers
Stickers! Everywhere! The end.
I would probably carefully chose only the ones I liked best (although that might be a lot if they were really cool) but I would most definitely paste them down carefully. HATE rumpled stickers!!!
That sort of looks like the one the dentist gave us without all the stickers. I'd love a $100 Visa Card though.
I'd cover every space available on the toothbrush, but not overlap any stickers.
I would do a few well placed stickers. And C is too little, she'd probably just eat them. D:
I'm a "several well-placed stickers" kind of person, but I would definitely find places elsewhere to use the stickers I didn't want on the toothbrush. Maximum dispersal, that's my motto.
My kids would be ALL OVER THIS! My daughter often gets upset with me for only haveing "boy" toothpaste. FTL, smear it on your teeth already. Who cares if it is Toy Story or Littlest Pet Shop??
I'm laughing about Henry needing to lie down during the project.
Oh yeah, I would use every sticker, that's for sure.
I'm a several well-placed sticker kinda gal :-)
samanthajocampen at gmail
A few well placed. I have to bite my tongue whenever my preschool aged children are doing crafts because I prefer everything done neatly.
Leave no spot blank! would be my motto. :)
Stickers everywhere!
But I have one question about this sticker-on-the-toothbrush thing. It seems to me when a sticker gets wet the paper part of the sticker kind of melts off and leaves behind the sticky goop. I wonder how that works on a toothbrush barrel where there is water and drool dripping over it.
Giselle- The stickers are plastic instead of paper, which is also awesome because then the edges are clear and can overlap with other stickers if desired (flower chains, animals holding hands, etc.).
Probably 1 or 3 of the best stickers. Not 2 because that would irritate me
I am definitely a "few well-placed stickers" kind of girl, and have been since childhood. I would have a REALLY HARD TIME choosing between skulls and dinosaurs, though, so I might have to decorate two. Or do a dino brush and a skulls paste :)
Oh, I did comment on this the first time around and my comment appears to have been eaten in the Great Blogger Collapse of 2011, so here I go again. I'm pretty sure I said something about how I'd go for a few well-placed stickers and that is a change from not that long ago, ergo, I am old, or at least older.
I would want to PILE THEM ON, of course! Looks like a lot of fun -- a "practical" craft idea.
i'm of the "a few well-placed stickers"...i can't handle the clutter ;)
Thanks!
(kgcraven@yahoo.com)
I would want to use just a few and put them on in a cute design but I would fail, they would wrinkle or otherwise not look as cute as I had imagined. I'm not at all crafty.
I love these! We got something like this (don't know if it's the same brand) for the two older girls last year and they loved it. I'm definitely doing this again. I wish they would make these with a replaceable head.
If I had my own? I would put my name on it, well I'd put my initials on it because I don't like my name. Then I would pile on the stickers but I would try to turn them into some kind of recognizable scene.
I would be a pile them on type!
I would put just a few neat, tidy stickers on! Pls enter me in this cool contest!
Pile 'em on baby, that's my style! ;)
I would put three on with no plan, just choosing ones I liked, then suddenly come up with a plan and try to take off the first stickers so I could proceed with my design.
I WANT to be a "few, well-placed stickers" kind of gal, but I'm really a "pile 'em on" sort of person.
I would carefully pile the stickers on, so there would be a lot of them, but a lot of thought would go into where each one went ;)
I'm in the "a few well-placed stickers" camp.

I would do a couple well-placed stickers. Because I want to keep my sticker-covered toothbrush classy. :)
Just a few well placed stickers in some kind of theme. Probably unicorns. ;p
Must get one of these for my son. He'd love it.
Can we find out how well the stickers hold up to wetness in a few weeks?
Katie- I've had them for over a month now, and they're still great! The paper around the toothpaste tube, though, is wrinkling and getting soggy. That is, the stickers are still fine, but they're clinging to a surface that looks like it isn't going to hold up very long. But most people might not get the toothpaste tube quite as wet as we have.
i'd probably do a few well-placed stickers til that got boring then pile on the rest
sherricrawford70/at/yahoo/dot/com
I would do a line of stickers vertically down 3 sides of the toothbrush
I would put the stickers everwhere(except the bristles of course!)

I would probably use a lot, but not "pile" them on: there would be a plan and a design scheme! Kind of like my house: arguably too much stuff, but none of it haphazardly placed!
I mean, except for the kids' crap everywhere. No design scheme there.
Oh, I would love this for my girl. What a cool idea.

My daughter has this toothbrush (she's on her second) and loves it. The first one had almost every single sticker available on it. The second one has a little white space showing :)
I would probably put on as many stickers as I could because they're all so cute!
So clearly toothbrushes need a few well placed stickers. I'm kind of intrigued by this toothbrush now. Excellent review.
I'd cram as many stickers on there as possible. My oldest child, however, would probably do his name and the skulls ... possibly the skateboards ... and if there are any other possibly-goth-type stickers, he'd use those too. My youngest would be all about the letters - the more, the merrier!
Sounds fun!! I would place the stickers spaced out rather than piling them on.(grkopanj at online.net)
Oops...optonline.net. stinking auto-correct!!
A few well placed is how I would go :)
The more stickers the better! I'd totally decoupage the heck out of toothbrush and paste!
I'm really surprised at how many people are 1 or 2 sticker people!!
Lots of fun stickers!!!! Lots. I think I'm going to buy my nephew one and scarf some stickers for my toothbrush!!!
I would attempt to control myself but probably keep adding one more till they were all gone

I *think* I'd be of the well-placed sticker variety, but then again, my 6-yr old has a tendency to get into whatever I'm doing and I'd probably end up with piled on.
But it's more fun that way, right?
Also twitted.

I would have to use every single sticker in that box!
This reminds me of the classic scene in Clueless where Travis is telling Ty (spelling?!) how he's thinking of uncluttering his skateboard--removing all the stickers and concentrating on one *big* sticker right in the middle, like a Marvin the Martian or something like that. God, I love that movie.
So, I'd probably start decorating my toothbrush cautiously and symmetrically and all *just so* but keep feeling the need to fill in white spaces until it was plastered over. And then I'd try to get them all off so I could do a nicer, simpler design, and then I'd scrub at the remaining adhesive that would turn brownish from being handled, and I'd try to cover up the gross brownish adhesive with stickers, and I'd finally give up and be reminded of how displeased I am with my work every single time I see the toothbrush.
I'd so be about the several stickers strategically placed! And I'm pretty much planning on doing this tonight.

I like lots of stickers. I think my boys would like these toothbrushes!
I would have several well-placed stickers, although I would have difficulty choosing!

If I decorated a toothbrush, it would have a few stickers, maybe palm trees and flip flops

Hmmm I think I'd fill every inch too, but they'd have to be lined up evenly. No overlapping! I'm anal like that! lol

PILE THEM ON! WooHoo!
I would carefully and artistically place each sticker in a designated design.
I would love this for my great grandkids.
Thank you.
have a fantastic day
I'm like a completely OCD person, and might start to place them well ordered then not know what to do with the rest and just dab it all over the place.
carefully placed stickers for me, but I am sure the kids would just pile them on

I would choose a few stickers and carefully place them on the brush. This is why all craft projects take me *far* longer than they should. :-)
I would decorate my toothbrush with the little flower stickers.
I have used baking soda to brush my teeth all my life. It's great how they made it into toothpaste.
